How to find MT work

I have had a couple of requests about getting MT work.

Here’s a couple of ideas:

Google – make it your friend – use the search term “Medical transcription” to start with and see what turns up

Check internet job hunting sites – sometimes they will have requests for transcriptionists

Market yourself – send out flyers to medical people in  your area

Look for any communities or groups of people who work in this area

Blog about MT

Have a website

Lastly, spread the word to friends that you are looking for this type of work. Word of mouth can be very powerful!

How to live the “Joyfully Jobless life”

I’ve been looking at Barbara Winter’s site a bit lately. It’s called “Travel Gear for the Joyfully Jobless Life”.

She is a lady who lives in the US and has discovered the secret/s to being your own boss. I was curious about the page named Idea Starters so I had to have a look. Barbara classifies people’s interests in a way that is different to the conventional way we think about ourselves. She uses categories such as information packagers, pet lovers, bookworms etc (see here for the rest of her list).

I guess this is the key…look at what you are good at, what you enjoy, what appeals to you. I was immediately drawn to the category of artisan to see what was there. I was happy to see that this category represents me (as you will see from my blog here).

 I was also curious about the heading of “information packagers”. I have always enjoyed sharing information with others. I enjoy writing but would never think of myself as a “writer”. Yet under this heading of “information packagers” I thought “that’s me!”

Are you searching for the right identity or identities? When you find it/them you have an “aha” moment.  Your place in life becomes clearer, and barriers start to fade. Different doors open in your mind. Your thoughts go off in different directions.

Freelance Work

Are you interested in working for yourself? Being your own boss? Enjoying the freedom of setting your own hours, working when you want to?

Then working on a freelance basis may be the way to go for you. What is freelance you ask? Well, I guess it’s where you work for yourself! It can be in any industry I suppose, depending on the role you want. In this computerised age I guess I am more interested in freelance work which makes the most of computer technology. So which industries? Obviously anything that can be done via computer!

Then the next question is where does one find work or what internet sites? Well the first two are Elance.com and Guru.com. These are sites based in the US however they accommodate the needs of businesses and professionals all over the world.

The following is an Australian site: Freelancer.com.au, which has a global focus.

Obviously there are more sites than these.  As more sites are uncovered the information will be posted on this blog.

If you enjoy typing, have computer access, and have an interest in medical terminology or medical matters, then this could be for you! Work from home, work your own hours on your own equipment and get paid. Too easy!

Internet Marketing Group

Yesterday I went along to the August meeting for my Internet Marketiing Group River City Freedom run by a great guy David Newton. The group meets at the Brisbane Hilton every four weeks. Nice location and service, with great accoustics. And it is a friendly supportive group, which is important. Members willingly share information with other members, even about their mistakes.

The people who attend are at varying stages on their journey towards making dollars from their internet sites. Interests range from personal development, health, marketing, real estate and more.

I believe David has more groups that meet on the east coast of Australia.

I always find this group really stimulating and no matter how I feel when I get there I always leave feeling energised,  and wanting to rush home and do research on the computer!

Welcome to my brand new blog, Grow My Biz.

I am very happy to be here and I look forward to producing many happy, positive, insightful posts about my experiences in being a WAHM and a SWOOHM (my term I have just coined which stands for “sometimes work outside of home mum” in order to make sure the bills get paid…lol…

I also aim to provide information which could be of assistance to others, perhaps in a similar position, who are looking to grow their “biz”.
